Assisting you through difficult times.
Losing someone close to you, whether it be family or a friend, is a difficult and emotional time. We get it. After all, this something we all will go through at some time or another and we are people before we are lawyers. We understand that going through a loss, then attending to the various matters that follow can be taxing It is important to deal with your loss before the practicalities that must follow.
When you are ready to deal with the paperwork, our experienced team is willing and able. We’ll take the time to explain the process of dealing with the assets and liabilities of an estate and will take care of notifying the relevant authorities/institutions of the deceased’s passing.
If you come to us as the executor of the estate, we will take your instructions and offer advice. We will prepare the application to the Supreme Court of New South Wales for a Grant of Probate or Grant of Letters of Administration to deal with the deceased person’s estate. This is mandatory and our lawyers are skilled in this process. We will explain the process in a language you will understand before preparing the necessary Court application, drafting the required legal notices and finalising the estate including a distribution to the beneficiaries.
We will also guide you through various situations including where the person in question passes away without leaving a valid will and the tax implications of actual property being part of the estate.
